Q: What is the ideal way to run this?
A: Use an Oculus Rift DK2 with the 0.4.3 run time (latest as of this writing). Put your Oculus into 'direct mode' in the Oculus Configuration Utility. Run the DesertBusVR_DirectToRift.exe file to play the game.
For the first time on the Intellivision, Desert Bus is a port of the Sega CD classic. Drive your bus from Tucson to Las Vegas, for 8 hours, in real time. Don’t stop or you’ll overheat, and be careful not to drift too far onto the dirt shoulder! Thrilling non-stop action with a bonus Arctic Bus mode.
Q: I can't get the game to work. How can I get it to run?
A: If following the instructions in the previous question doesn't work for you, please e-mail us at admin@desertbusvr.com and describe your setup. We'll try to help. This is our first VR game and we're learning as we go.
Q: Does it work on an Oculus Rift DK1?
A: We have no idea. We don't have a DK1 and haven't tried it. Let us know if it works for you.
Q: I'm getting judder.
A: We default to having mirroring turned on because that seems to help the most people. You can try turning mirroring off to see if that improves things for you. Edit settings.xml in the folder you unziped the game and change the <mirroring> option to 'false.'
Q: Can I play this without an Oculus?
A: We don't know why you'd want to but yes, you can. Edit settings.xml in the folder you unziped the game and change the <cameratype> option to 'standard' instead of 'vr.'
